Mollie Scott, Pharm.D., has been named a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in recognition of the excellence she has achieved in pharmacy practice. Scott is the School’s regional associate dean for the Asheville satellite campus and a clinical associate professor in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education.

“Mollie is most deserving of this recognition. She has been a leader in ambulatory care practice and has played an important role in promoting provider status for pharmacists. She has also served in leadership positions both on a state and national level,” said Pam Joyner, Ed.D., M.S.Pharm, executive associate dean for professional education.

Scott received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Meredith College and then earned her Doctor of Pharmacy at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She completed an ASHP-accredited residency in geriatrics at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, and she was a member of the Campbell University clinical pharmacy faculty until 2001. She joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2001, as well. She is a board certified in ambulatory care pharmacy and a clinical pharmacist practitioner.

Scott was the director of pharmacotherapy at Mountain Area Health Education from 2001 to 2011. She has practiced as a clinical pharmacist practitioner since 2001 and provides ambulatory care pharmacy services at MAHEC Family Health Center, which is recognized as a level III patient-centered medical home. She has served as vice chair and was chair of the ASHP Section Advisory Group on Clinical Practice Advancement.  She is currently director-at-large for the ASHP Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners executive committee, which dedicates itself to improving patient care and patient health outcomes by advancing and supporting the professional practice of pharmacists who are medication-use specialists, patient-care providers and operational specialists in ambulatory care settings.

Scott will be honored along with the other 2016 fellows June 14 during the ASHP Summer Meetings and Exhibition in Baltimore.
