Honors Students

Erin Damery

Background and Research Interests

Erin attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate studies and obtained her degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2010. During her time at U of M she attended the University of Michigan Biological Station where she completed projects looking at the habitat partitioning of different fish species, as well the use of diatoms as indicators of water quality. In the fall of 2010 Erin moved to North Carolina to attend the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and joined Dr. Thakker’s lab in the fall of 2011 as an honors student to obtain research experience in her new field of study. Her current research will focus on identifying metformin transporters in endometrial cancer cell lines.

Background and Research Interests

Deanna attended UNC Chapel Hill for her undergraduate pre-pharmacy coursework prior to admission to UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, where she will graduate with her PharmD in 2014. She joined Dr. Thakker's Lab for her Honors research project as part of the Honors Program.  Currently working as a pharmacy technician at Duke University Hospital, she aspires to become a practicing clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting.
