Research Interests:
Current translational and basic research activities are focused on the study of drug metabolism enzymes (cytochrome P450s) and hepatobiliary transporters to determine their roles in: 1) liver disease pathobiology; and 2) drug-induced hepatotoxicity.  Clinical investigations in patients with hepatitis C or NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) are focused on the association of disease progression and treatment response with: 1) serum biomarkers of inflammation, apoptosis, fibrosis/cirrhosis; and 2) genetic polymorphisms or activity phenotypes for candidate cytochrome P450 and hepatobiliary transporter genes.
