Dr. Denton is developing a pharmacokinetic-pharmcodynamic model of the anti-parasitic agent, furamidine. Furamidine and analogs have shown promising outcomes for the treatment of human African Trypanosomiasis (a.k.a. African sleeping sickness), which afflicts the world's poorest populations. Dr. Denton also is conducting a clinical study to elucidate the importance of an alternate metabolic pathway of the probe drug cytochrome P450 3A substrate, midazolam. The information gathered will aid in the design of future drug-drug interaction studies.
