  • August 2010: Liz Pempe and Sherket Peterson attended the International Carbohydrates Symposium in Tokyo, Japan.

  • 2010: Sherket Peterson and Ryan Bullis received fellowships from the NIH. Peterson won a predoctoral fellowship, while Bullis won a predoctoral supplemental fellowship.

  • 2009: Graduate students Heather Bethea and Renpeng Liu graduated.

  • 2008: Graduate students Miao Chen and Tanya Burch graduated. Chen graduated in July, and Burch in November.

  • 02-28-08: Liu was interviewed by CNN to comment on the contaminated heparin found in the US.

  • 03-24-08: "Synthetic Heparin Could be Next Step". Dr. Liu was intereviewed by ChicagoTribune to talk about the synthetic version of heparin drug.
  • 05-20-08: Ryan Bullis has joined the lab as a graduate student. Ryan got his BS in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State Univeristy.
  • 06-26-08: Miao Chen has successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Towards De Novo Synthesis of Structure-defined Oligosaccharides with Heparan Sulfate Biosynthetic Enzymes".
  • 07-01-08: Dr. Liu has received a research grant from the American Heart Association, MidAtlantic Affiliate. This grant supports a research project to investigate the substrate specifcities of heparan sulfate biosynthetic enzymes.
