The first round of proposals to the Center from faculty were reviewed with target and project selections made by the end of 2007. Outsourcing of synthetic chemistry commenced in 2008 while the Center's labs were being finished in the new Genetic Medicine Building that opened in November 2008. The Center became fully staffed during 2009.
Since mid-2008, the Center has been meeting with individual investigators to discuss their project ideas, the Center's capabilities and resources, and potential sources of funding for collaborations. This informal process has resulted in an ample portfolio of projects that are reviewed and prioritized on a twice yearly basis.
