Relation to the School of Pharmacy

The University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy (SoP) has long emphasized quality education experiences for our students as a primary aspect of the SoP experience. The School’s mission statement states “To advance health care through innovation and collaboration in pharmacy practice, education, research, and public service” and as part of this mission we will provide innovative and contemporary educational experiences and the highest quality educational experiences. We seek student-centered learning, placing the strongest value on learning and teaching. Finally, the strategic plan has as one of its aims “Transform the educational process to prepare professional and graduate students to enter into their profession and continue to develop throughout their careers.” The focus on education at a research-intensive university puts no doubt that student learning is a defining feature of the SoP. While the Center is an independent entity within the school, it works in close conjunction with the Office of Assessment and Curriculum, the Curriculum Committee, the Assessment Committee, the Office of Professional Education, and the Campbell Mentoring Program. The Center will work with these existing units/programs to conduct research, evaluation, and dissemination that raise the profile of their scholarly contributions. CEEP will coordinate evidence of best practices emerging in the literature and field to inform the ongoing development of UNC SoP faculty programs, and to stimulate the UNC SoP community of educational scholars..
