Information for New PharmD Students


Welcome to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. We are excited about your arrival in August and want to remind you of important details that will require your attention before begin your studies.

Checklist (see links on the right for more information)

  1. Obtain an Onyen.
  2. Access Blackboard.
  3. Complete the PY1 Information Update form and e-mail the document to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Registrar, Ms. Dama Keck (dama_keck@unc.edu).
  4. Fill out the Mentor Matching Form and send it to echow@email.unc.edu by Wednesday, August 12th.
  5. Purchase the audience response system from Turning Technologies by the first day of classes.  Please click the link for "Audience Response System" that appears on the right side of this page for more information.
  6. If local, get your UNC One Card. If not, you can get it at orientation or once classes begin.
  7. Plan to attend orientation on August 21 and 24.  Classes will begin on August 25.
  8. Plan to bring $10.00 with you to Orientation in cash, check or money order-payable to UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy for your name tag. You will not be able to receive your name tag until your money is received.

Biochemistry Challenge Exam

 Have you taken a previous Biochemistry course? If so, you have a chance to place out of Biochemistry I or II by taking the challenge exam. This is an optional, multiple-choice exam covering basic material from Biochem I and II.  Last year, 50 percent of the students taking this exam placed out of Biochem I. If you would like to take the challenge exam, please RSVP to Dama Keck at dama_keck@unc.edu by August 15, 2009. This exam will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Kerr 1001 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
