PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with Managed Care Emphasis
The PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with Managed Care Emphasis is a program jointly offered by the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and AccessCare, a network of Community Care of North Carolina, which serves as the managed-care program for NC Medicaid.
Residents in the program will work under the guidance of preceptors who are residency-trained, have completed postgraduate education beyond their pharmacy degree, or have more than fifteen years of experience in their field of expertise. Residents will
- Spend five to six months on patient-care rotations in ambulatory/inpatient settings
- Spend five to six months on administrative managed-care rotations
- Participate in a longitudinal rotation in drug policy
- Complete a research project intended for publication
- Serve as a teaching assistant for the Pharmaceutical Care Lab at the UNC School of Pharmacy for one semester
