Abby Caplan, PharmD

Abby Caplan, PharmD, is the clinical coordinator at the Kerr Health Care Center in Zebulon, North Carolina. Caplan received her doctor of pharmacy from West Virginia University in May 2007. Upon graduation, she completed a community pharmacy residency with UNC and Kerr Drug in Zebulon. Caplan enjoys providing daily patient-care services and was part of the team of providers recognized as Medication Therapy Management Provider of the Year in 2007 and 2008 by Outcomes Pharmaceutical Health Care, an MTM services provider.

Caplan actively provides disease-state management and clinical services such as MTM, immunizations, point-of-care testing, and education to patients in the Zebulon community. She also teaches diabetes education and was a provider when the Zebulon site was recognized as one of the American Diabetes Association Providers of the Year in 2008. Caplan is a clinical instructor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, where she serves as a preceptor during pharmacy students’ introductory and advanced community experiential rotations. She has presented her research findings nationally and was published in the April 2008 edition of JAPhA.

At the state level, Caplan serves on the Membership Committee and is a member of the Community Care Forum of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacy. She is involved nationally in the American Pharmacists Association.
