HIV Pharmacology Fellowship
This two- to three-year fellowship will prepare highly motivated individuals to become independent
researchers in anti-infective clinical pharmacology. Specific research areas include antiretroviral pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenetics. The fellow will gain experience in all areas of translational research ranging from grant-writing to manuscript submission and is expected to present research findings at scientific meetings. Research activities will focus on investigator-initiated programs.
The fellow will become proficient with the conduct of clinical investigations in both healthy volunteer and patient populations. Required coursework includes ethics of human research, research methods in pharmacology, advanced topics in pharmacotherapy and the fellow/graduate student seminar series. Optional courses are available in statistics, advanced pharmacokinetics, and molecular biology.
At the completion of the fellowship, the fellow will have presented and published abstracts and manuscripts, developed a research area of expertise that will make them competitive and successful for future research funding, and developed a preliminary grant proposal for future investigations.
