pharmd-mba thumbnailNEW: PharmD/MBA Dual-Degree Program

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are partnering to offer a dual-degree program that will allow pharmacy students to earn a doctor of pharmacy and an MBA in five years. Graduates who hold both a PharmD and an MBA often pursue careers in the pharmaceutical industry, health-care management, or as entrepreneurs in community pharmacy. They command higher salaries than other PharmD graduates on average. LEARN MORE

The doctor of pharmacy is for those who want to become a pharmacist. The PharmD is a professional degree similar to the doctor of medicine (MD) for physicians or a doctor of dental surgery (DDS) for dentists.

The PhD in pharmaceutical sciences program prepares tomorrow's scientists for basic or clinical research. Our PhD program has four multidisciplinary concentrations that reflect our collaborative approach to science.

The master of science in health system pharmacy prepares pharmacists for leadership positions in health care. It combines classroom instruction with a two-year residency in a health-system setting.

We offer postgraduate research opportunities for PharmD and PhD graduates through academic and clinical research fellowships.

Our residency programs help prepare PharmD graduates to be leaders and innovators in community-pharmacy and hospital practice.

Our continuing education program partners with the nine regional AHECs and NCAP to help the state’s pharmacists improve and advance their practice.
