Mobile App
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy has developed a mobile app that consolidates information from the School's Web site and social media accounts and delivers it to today's most popular mobile-device platforms. The app serves as a quick-reference tool and a way to easy stay current with the news and events happening at the School. Now that the first round of development is done, we will be exploring ways to add more custom functionality to the app. Let us know what you think on our Facebook page.

Development Updates
August 31, 2010
Our iPhone and Blackberry apps are now available for download.
August 23, 2010
Our Android app has gone live. Our iPhone and Blackberry apps have been submitted for approval and should be available by early September.
August 11, 2010
It's been a while since the last update, but we've been in a holding pattern while some small issues with news feeds have taken a very long time to fix. We're not beta testing all three apps and hope to be able to publish them by the end of the month.
April 27, 2010
The School has signed a contract with a new vendor who will create an app for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry platforms and create a matching mobile Web site for devices using other platforms.
April 20, 2010
So far our vendor has not had much luck getting the app approved by the iTunes stores as Apple rachets down on applications built on standardized templates. We are currently seeking another vendor who can provide a standard application with more features along with the ability to customize the app down the road. We are also looking to add Blackberrys to the devices supported.
March 2, 2010
The beta version of the UNC Pharmacy app is now available on the Android Market. It has also been submitted to Apple for inclusion in iTunes, but that process can take up to three weeks. Already we see that we need to adjust some of the feeds to include the text of stories and not just headlines. We're working with our Web site vendor to tweak our RSS feeds. We've also removed the feed from UNC News Services as their volume tends to wash out the pharmacy news. We are also testing an Announcements channel to provide various updates usually sent out via e-mail through the School's listservs. Once we have the app the way we like it, we plan to eliminate the advertising.
January 28, 2010
Our vendor currently has a hold on new app publishing due to a large volume of requests. Once the School app is available, we will announce it and create a suggestion and ideas forum on the School's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/UNCPharmacy.
