The Division of Molecular Pharmaceutics will present a seminar
by Selvarangan Ponnazhagan, PhD, on Wednesday, April 23.
The seminar will be in Kerr Hall, room 2001, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. It is
titled "AAV for Cancer Gene Therapy".
Ponnazhagan is an associate professor in the School of Medicine at
the University of Alabama-Birmingham. His research focuses on
adeno-associated virus-mediated gene therapy of human diseases.
He is currently working with AAV vectors on anti-angiogenic gene
therapy for solid tumors, dendritic cell-based vaccines for cancer
immunotherapy, and gene therapy for metabolic bone diseases.
In addition, his lab is also focused on basic biology of the vector and
vector modifications to achieve high-efficiency gene transfer and targeting.
