Til Stürmer, MD, MPH, PhD
Til Stürmer, MD, MPH, PhD, is a professor of epidemiology at the University of UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and director of the UNC-GlaxoSmithKline Center of Excellence in Pharmacoepidemiology and Public Health. Dr. Stürmer’s research interests include a dual focus in epidemiologic methods and clinical epidemiology, including development of more efficient matching strategies, propensity scores, and a wide span of research in clinical epidemiology. He is the lead instructor for the Methods and Issues in Pharmacoepidemiology course. Dr. Stürmer received his European doctorate in medicine from the University of Basel in Switzerland, his masters of public health from the Harvard School of Public Health, and a doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Prior to joining the UNC faculty, he was an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics and the Division of Preventive Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and formerly was a tenured associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Heidelberg.
