Scott Smith, MSPH, PhD
Scott Smith, MSPH, PhD, is senior service fellow in the Center for Outcomes and Evidence at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), where he heads the pharmaceutical outcomes research programs across all AHRQ centers and programs, including the Centers for Education and Research on Therapeutics, the Evidence-based Practice Centers, Research Initiative in Clinical Economics, and the technology assessment group. Dr. Smith’s research interests are related to pharmaceutical outcomes and pharmacoepidemiology, and he is a national expert in designing studies that measure medication adherence and compliance. Dr. Smith is a registered pharmacist who earned his MSPH from the University of Illinois and his PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Michigan. Before joining AHRQ, Dr. Smith was a tenured associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he maintains adjunct faculty appointments in the the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
