Postdoctoral Fellowship
Center For Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy

Description
The Center for Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy (CPOP) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program aims to prepare professionals for careers in areas of research including pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, health services research, and behavioral sciences as they apply to the use of medications or pharmaceutical policy. In addition to developing research skills, fellows will have opportunities to develop their skills in communication, teaching, writing, and mentoring.

CPOP offers an environment of collaborative and interdisciplinary research. The fellow will work with a diverse group of faculty within the School of Pharmacy’s Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy who frequently collaborate with faculty from the UNC Schools of Public Health, Medicine, and Nursing as well as numerous other centers and institutes stationed at UNC.

Fellows also have access to a comprehensive health sciences library and the private library of the division. UNC also provides CPOP postdoctoral fellows with access to excellent career and professional development activities through the Office of Postdoctoral Services. The Scientist ranked UNC-Chapel Hill first among U.S. academic institutions in the category of  “best places to work for postdocs” in 2005.

This two-year fellowship includes a competitive salary and health insurance, office space and supplies, a personal computer with access to CPOP’s high-speed computing and storage area network, and travel support to at least one professional conference each year.

Eligibility
Typical applicants hold clinical doctoral degrees (MD, PharmD) or have received a PhD or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution. Strong preference will be given to candidates who are in their first or second year of postdoctoral training. Fellows are selected on the basis of previous academic or professional achievements and their commitment to the field of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy research.

Fellowship Application
Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement describing how their career interests relate to their fellowship objectives (1,000 words or less), and at least one letter of reference. An interview at UNC-Chapel Hill will be required for finalists.
