I base my teaching on the belief that students learn in a variety of different ways. While a foundation for understanding is important, I believe the real learning comes through doing. This is achieved through application of static facts to real-world scenarios in group projects, in-class discussions, and exercises. As a facilitator of learning, I design the framework in which learning can take place. I teach students how to define a problem, how to decide what they need to solve it, how to find and evaluate new information, how to recognize their limits, and how to be prepared both for change and to change. My teaching methods are continuously assessed so I can improve my effectiveness as a teacher.
My primary goal is to have a positive effect on the students' future. This goal involves providing students with the tools they need for success and a framework for critical thinking. I try to help the students learn to think logically, learn problem-solving skills, and improve writing.
