William Proctor

WILLIAM PROCTOR

Will was raised in Deep River, Connecticut.  After graduating from Valley Regional High School in 1997, he earned his Bachelors of Science (Chemistry) at Trinity College in 2001.  During his time at Trinity, Will worked on isolating and characterizing antioxidant oligomers from natural products, such as chocolate, using LC-MS techniques.  His research experiences lead him to Pfizer in La Jolla, California. At Pfizer, Will served as an associate scientist in the bio-analytical screening group in late discovery, analyzing adsorption, metabolism, and drug-drug interaction assays using high-throughput mass spectrometry.  In 2005 Will left Pfizer to join the graduate program in the Division of Molecular Pharmaceutics, the School of Pharmacy, UNC-Chapel Hill.  His research project is centered on elucidating the mechanisms of transport (absorption) of   metformin, a drug used for type II diabetes, across intestinal epithelium.
