CLAUDIA GENERAUX

Claudia grew up in La Paz, Bolivia. After graduating high school in La Paz she began her first undergraduate year at the School of Medicine (Universidad Mayor de San Andres- La Paz).  In 1995 her family moved to the US and settled in Topeka, KS where Claudia attended Washburn University and obtained a B.S in Biology in 1999.  After working in a toxicology laboratory in Kansas City for a year, she joined XenoTech, a contract research organization in Lenexa, KS, where she worked as a scientist in the drug inhibition group for four years. In 2004 she moved to Chapel Hill in order to pursue a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences.   Prior to her first year as a graduate student Claudia worked as a research technician at UNC in the laboratory of Dr. Hall performing drug metabolism studies; she also worked as a bench scientist in the Metabolic and Virology CEDD at GlaxoSmithkline.  In the fall of 2005 she joined the Molecular Pharmaceutics Division of the School of Pharmacy, at UNC-Chapel Hill. Claudia is currently a third year graduate student working under the joint guidance of Dr. Hall and Dr. Thakker. Aside from science, Claudia enjoys traveling, learning other languages and interior decoration.
