Faculty Positions

NOTE:  Recruiting for these positions has closed.

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invite applications for two faculty positions in the general area of cancer research and epigenetics in the School of Pharmacy’s Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products (MCNP) with joint appointments in the Center for Integrative Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery (CICBDD). These new positions will create a focus on chemical and structural biology of epigenetics within the CICBDD in order to enable discovery and validation of targets of therapeutic relevance and rapid translation of basic science to potential clinical benefit utilizing the assay development, compound profiling and medicinal chemistry expertise within the Center. One position will be at the level of tenure track Assistant Professor (ID 1000981). Candidates with expertise in organic synthesis and chemical biology – especially with a focus on chemical biology of epigenetics - are encouraged to apply. The second position will be at the level of tenured or tenure track Associate Professor (ID 1000979). Candidates are expected to have research interests in structural biology of epigenetics, x-ray crystallography and structure-based drug design. For both positions, outstanding candidates at other levels will also be considered. The CICBDD has been created with generous, multi-year, philanthropic and state government funding allocated through the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and University Cancer Research Fund, to provide assay development, cheminformatic and medicinal chemistry resource and expertise to enable the translation of UNC basic scientific discoveries into novel human therapeutics (http://www.pharmacy.unc.edu/labs/center-for-integrative-chemical-biology-and-drug-discovery). UNC-CH provides an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary biomedical research with opportunities to interface with scientists working in diverse areas ranging from basic biological, physical, chemical and computational disciplines through clinical medicine. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or related disciplines, postdoctoral research experience and an outstanding publication record. Evidence of independent research funding is a plus. Applications must include complete curriculum vitae with a summary of publications and funding, a concise description of research plans, and three letters of support. Interested candidates must complete the on line application at http://hr.unc.edu/jobseekers/search.htm. Letters of support should be submitted directly by the referee in electronic format with signature to:

dearry@email.unc.edu. Women and members of under-represented minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.
