First Row of Buttons

After you log in and go back to your lab site, your site will have one of two appearances, depending on which template theme it’s using. You should also see two rows of buttons at the top of the screen.

FIRST ROW OF BUTTONS

Actions

Includes: Cut, Copy, Paste, and Delete, so you can apply these functions to the page you’re on.

Display

This button is only visible when you navigate to a folder (rather than a page). The only function you’d want to use here is “Choose content item as default view”. By default, when you click on a folder, it takes you to a list of the items within the folder. However, if you’d rather have a particular page be what people see when they click on the link to the folder, you can use this function to specify the page. For instance, if you want to add a tab called “Research”, you’d need to create a folder with that name for it to be added to the tabs. But when someone clicks on that tab, you want them to see a page about your research rather than the list of items in this folder. That’s where this function comes in handy.

Add

This menu gives you a plethora of types of items you can add. This is the menu you’ll use most often when you are setting up your site. We will look at it in more detail later. For now, just know that you’ll use only four options from this menu ninety-nine percent of the time: file, folder, image, page.

State

This shows you the state of the item you’re working on: private, public draft, or published. More on these states later.
