Changing the Default View of a Folder

While you are on the Grants page you just created, look at the navigation menu on the left. You’ll see that there are two links called “Grants”, one for the folder, the other for the page you just created (which is listed as a subset of the folder).

This type of navigation listing is helpful when you have multiple pages in a folder and you want people to be able to move easily between them, but in this case, we only have one page in the folder. Also, click on the link to the Grants folder, and you’ll see that it shows a list of the items in the folder. If somebody clicks on the Grants link, they’re expecting the Grants page, not a list of items to sort through. To solve this problem, we can tell the system to use the Grants page as the default view for the Grants folder, so that anytime somebody goes to that folder, they’re automatically taken to the Grants page. To change the default view someone gets when they click on a link to a folder:

  • While you’re in the Grants folder, click “display” in the top row of buttons and pick “choose content item as default view”.
  • On the list that comes up, click the circle next to the Grants page, and click “save”.
