Dr. Roth is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy and a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Dr. Roth has served as co-investigator on numerous aging research projects, with particular attention to optimizing medication use in older adults with chronic diseases.  She is the principal ivestigator on a National Institute on Aging Research and Career Development Award (NIH K23) to evaluate the quality of medication use in older adults and develop and pilot test an innovative medication management program to improve the quality of medication use and health outcomes for older adults. 

Prior to embarking on a research career, Dr. Roth practiced as a clinical pharmacist, providing patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition to her classroom teaching on geriatric care, she continues to serve as a co-preceptor for the advanced practice experience for fourth year PharmD students and  is a faculty advisor for pharmacy students enrolled in the UNC Interdisciplinary Certificate in Aging program. Dr. Roth received her PharmD and completed a Pharmacy residency at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and completed a Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Research at Duke University School of Medicine.

She was honored in 2006 with the Gordon H. DeFriese Career Development in Aging Research Award from the Institute on Aging at the University of North Carolina.  She is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and currently is serving a three-year elected term as Secretary of the Board of Regents. She is also a member of Academy Health, American Geriatrics Society, American Pharmacists Association, and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists.
