Biography:

Kim Deloatch has been a member of the Carolina community since leaving her native Wilson, N.C. to join UNC’s freshman class in 1975.  She completed her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Master of Education degrees at UNC Chapel Hill. Go Heels! Before returning to UNC as a faculty member, she practiced pharmacy at Wilson Memorial Hospital and Duke University Medical Center; worked as a relief pharmacist in community pharmacies; and taught nursing students in a community college.  She also has worked as a consultant to pharmaceutical industry, home health care, veterinary medicine, and the Department of Defense. 

Since joining the School’s faculty, Ms. Deloatch has served as an advisor to pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students; taught pharmaceutics laboratory and pharmacy calculations courses; developed and taught in the Pharmaceutical Care Laboratory course sequence; guided development of the Doctor of Pharmacy Partnership Program with Elizabeth City State University; and served on numerous School and University committees. She is currently a faculty member in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Experiential Education (DPPEE); directs the School’s Office of Curriculum and Assessment; and serves on the School’s curriculum, assessment and internationalization committees and on the DPPEE strategic planning and personnel action review committees.  Her areas of interest and expertise include curriculum, course and visual design; assessment of student learning; curriculum assessment; program assessment; faculty mentoring and development for teaching and learning; and patient communication and education.

Research Interests:
Active learning; effective teaching practices;  assessment of student learning; curriculum evaluation; program evaluation;  professionalism and professional development.
