The objective of Brandon's research project is to identify and characterize probe substrates for specific hepatic transport proteins. There is a need to identify specific probe substrates for basolateral and canalicular transport proteins to aid in elucidating mechanisms of hepatobiliary drug transport, phenotyping for interindividual differences in transport protein function, and identifying the potential for drug-drug interactions at the hepatic transport level.
