Class of 2004
“I chose to pursue a career in pharmacy because it allows me to apply science towards helping people, which is something I greatly value. Pharmacy also offers many opportunities, financial stability, and personal and professional rewards—a great blend of everything I wanted."
“As a member of the School’s Honors program, I was required to complete a research project under the mentorship of a pharmacy faculty member. During my second year in pharmacy school, I took a kinetics class that I found very interesting and so I asked the instructor to be my honors adviser."
“Basically, I work in a lab doing experiments to see if I can selectively induce enzymes that help protect against toxic metabolites of an anti-cancer agent. I hope these experiments will one day benefit patients taking medications for certain cancers, such as colon or lung cancer."
“I think this project will give me good experience should I choose to pursue a career in academia or the pharmaceutical industry.”
