Matt Rivenbark, M.A.

Matt Rivenbark (pronounced with a long I as in “life”) is the finance director of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2000 and a masters in accounting from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2002.

Rivenbark began his career as the accounting and finance manager for a Durham equipment-leasing company. He returned to UNC-Chapel Hill as an accounting specialist at the UNC Neurosciences Center in 2004. In 2008, he moved to the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute, where he worked for three years accounting for $20 million in state, overhead, trust, and grant funds. He joined the School in 2011.

As finance director, Rivenbark provides annual, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports to the School’s chief financial officer, Rick Wernoski, to help inform business decisions. He also analyzes monthly financial transactions to identify trends and changing needs. He assists with budgeting and fund allocations for the School’s state appropriations and startup commitments and provides financial oversight to the graduate program. Rivenbark also supervises the accounting staff and represents the School on a variety of financial campus working groups.
