Ilona Owens promoted to Senior Director of the Office of Student Affairs

Since starting her role at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2022, Ilona Owens, has built a strong foundation in the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). She began as the director of OSA and has now been promoted to senior director.   Owens received her bachelor’s degree from Elon University. Nicole Kenney promoted to Senior Director of Human Resources and Engagement

When Nicole Kenney ‘14, was 15 years old, she stood in front of Beard Hall, home to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, dreaming of the day she would go to pharmacy school. Matt Rivenbark appointed Executive Director of Finance and Facilities Services

Double Tar Heel, Matt Rivenbark ‘00, ‘02 (M.A.), recently stepped into a new position at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. After working as the senior director of finance for the School for seven years, Rivenbark is now the executive director of finance and facilities services.   His journey at Carolina began when he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2000 from what was then the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Tar Heel Bus Tour: Reflections on History and Connection

  The Tar Heel Bus Tour has a long and storied history of introducing faculty and senior administrators to North Carolina. It provides the opportunity to understand the interconnection of the University’s mission and the welfare of the state. Virtual lab takes gold in international Hermes Awards

The High-performance Liquid Chromatography virtual lab won gold honors in three categories in this year’s international Hermes Awards. The Hermes Awards honor the messengers and creators of traditional and emerging media and symbolize a mark of excellence in the marketing/communications field. The PharmAlliance development team’s project won gold in the following categories: E-Learning, Interactive Capabilities and Web-based Multimedia. The competition is set up with 200 categories distributed under the headings: Print Media, Public Relations/Communications and Electronic/Social/Interactive Media. Diversity and Inclusion Retreat Highlights Opportunities for Improvement

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy hosted the 2018 Transformative Diversity and Inclusion Retreat on Aug. 14. The diversity and inclusion core team, which includes 29 pharmacy faculty, staff and students, used the retreat to begin establishing a shared philosophy of inclusivity and collaboration within the School. The retreat was focused on expanding opportunities to enhance diversity and inclusion at the School. Qi Joins School to Support China Projects

Xiao “Ashley” Qi, M.B.A., has joined the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as the associate director of China initiatives. She will support the School’s efforts to find and evaluate opportunities to establish research and pharmacy-education partnerships in China. Qi’s primary focus will be leading the development of the School’s relationships and opportunities in Asia with a specific focus on China. Resiliency Team to Support Mental Health, Well-Being at School

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s Resiliency and Well-Being Task Force held its inaugural meeting at a June 26 retreat at the N.C. Botanical Gardens. The team, chaired by Mollie Scott, Pharm.D., and Brad Wingo, M.Ed., is charged with creating innovative ways to foster the mental and physical well-being of School students, faculty and staff. Scott is the regional associate dean for the School’s Asheville satellite campus. Eshelman Institute Awards $3.5 Million in June 2018 Funding Round

The Eshelman Institute for Innovation on June 1 funded projects proposed by 25 UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy faculty and staff members totaling more than $3.5 million. The Eshelman Institute was created by a $100 million gift from alumnus, philanthropist and pharmaceutical executive Fred Eshelman, Pharm.D., to the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in December 2014. The institute aims to inspire a culture of innovation where imagination and creative solutions accelerate change in education, research and health care.
