Multimedia Room

The Multimedia Room, a technology workroom for instructors and those who assist them, provides access to equipment that supports the teaching process, including scanners and graphical software, a Sympodium, and videoconference software.

Where is the Multimedia Room?

The Multimedia Room is located in Beard 109C. Beard 109 is in the newly renovated suite that includes the Business and IT offices.

Who can use the Multimedia Room?

The Multimedia Room is open to all SOP faculty, staff, and Teaching Assistants. Graduate students may use the Multimedia Room to work on projects for a faculty member if that faculty member provides written permission to ITSOP@unc.edu.

When is the Multimedia Room available?

The Multimedia Room (Beard 109A) is open weekdays 8 am – 4 pm when the University is open. All equipment may be used on a first come, first served basis, unless the equipment has been reserved in advance.

How do I reserve time on a computer in the Multimedia Room?

To reserve time on equipment in the Multimedia Room email ITSOP@unc.edu with 1) the equipment you want to use, and 2) the date and time you wish to use it.  You will receive an email confirmation when your reservation has been made.

What should I do if I’m working in the Multimedia Room and I have a question or a computer problem?

Send an email to ITSOP@unc.edu.

Do’s and Don’t’s

  • Please do not bring food or drink into the Multimedia Room.
  • Please leave the work areas neat and throw away any trash.
  • After you are finished working, please save all your files to the L, K, or M drives. Do not leave files on the room computer hard drives.
