There are several computer labs in Beard Hall:
Lab 204 (the Pharmaceutical Skills Lab) often has classes in it, but students can use it whenever it is available. Labs are generally staffed from 8-5.
To log on to a computer simply hold CTRL-ALT-DEL down at the same time, then enter your ONYEN and password. Our login process in the labs automatically "maps" you to your home folders on AFS space. Please remember to log off using the log off icon on the desktop or by clicking on the "Start" button and then choosing "Shutdown". Make sure "log off SOP___-__" is selected. Failure to log off will allow the next user to access your home space and e-mail.

All computers in the labs are protected against viruses by Norton’s Antivirus software. Any file opened on a lab machine will be scanned for viruses; this includes any files from email, floppies, and CD’s. Email is by far the largest single spreader of viruses. Please follow these email rules to prevent having your file quarantined by Norton Antivirus:
1. Do not open attachments with the extensions .exe, .vbs, .scr, or .pif
2. Do not open any attachments from unkown senders
3. Report any messages sent by Norton Antivirus while you are using a lab computer.
As a member of the UNC family you are entitled to free software including Norton Antivirus to be used at home or on a laptop. You can download this software from UNC's shareware page.
The Information Technology department at the School of Pharmacy enhances the educational process by providing audio/visual equipment to students, faculty, and staff; supporting the use of technology in the classroom; offering videoconferencing capabilities; and providing computer labs for student and class use.
