Wireless Networking at UNC

Wireless networking is a UNC initiative to increase the convenience and flexibility of computer-based communication, learning and research. The wireless network enables you to connect your laptop to the campus network and the Internet from a variety of locations campus wide without having to plug in a data cable. The wireless network supplements the existing wired network and gives you more flexibility in choosing a connection location.

Where can I use wireless networking in the School of Pharmacy?

There are currently six wireless networking hubs installed in Beard and Kerr Halls. The hubs provide wireless access to the following areas:
•    Beard 116 multimedia classroom and DPOP basement area
•    Kerr 1001
•    Beard 202 and 204
•    Kerr 2001 and the 2nd floor lobby outside the auditorium
•    Kerr seminar rooms 1304, 2304, and 3304
•    Kerr faculty offices (2201-2215, 3201-3215) and the lounge on the 3rd floor of Kerr Hall
The range of the access points goes beyond the confines of the rooms listed above. Wireless access may be available in adjacent areas.

How do I get started?

Go to http://www.unc.edu/wireless/ for more information on the wireless networking initiative at UNC. Instructions are provided for accessing the wireless network from your laptop. You will also find a list of other wireless access points around the campus.
