Web Site User's Guide

Introduction

The School of Pharmacy’s Web site was set up with a content management system (CMS) so that anyone, not just programmers or HTML wizards, can use the built-in interface to edit the information on the site. The Office of Communications oversees some of the higher-level pages in the site, but much of regular maintenance of the content on the more division- or department-specific pages is the responsibility of people in that division/department (for instance, MedChem is responsible for updating the language of the text on its division site, Student Services is responsible for updating the application dates on the Admission pages, etc.). The Office of Communications is available to help in case of questions or problems.

A couple of the main things that the Office of Communications is in charge of:

  • The News section: If you have news items (grants, awards, new studies, etc.) or events that you would like to have publicized on the site, please contact the Office of Communications. Also let us know if a faculty member has been interviewed by a media outlet for a story, which we would announce on our “In the News” section.

  • The online staff directory: Please let the Office of Communications know if you have a new hire in your division/office.

The main things that faculty are responsible for:

  • Upkeep of their own profile pages in the faculty directory. If you need to add a new faculty member to the directory, let the Office of Communications know. However, the maintenance of an existing faculty profile page is the responsibility of the faculty member. Each faculty member has a login for the Web site that they can use to gain access to edit their profile page information at any time.
  • Updating the copy of the CV and/or bio-sketch attached to their profile page.
  • Updating the content of their own lab sites (if you need to create a new lab site, please contact the Office of Communications).

The main things that each division/office is responsible for:

  • Upkeep of the division/office/program site content. On the division sites, Office of Communications will handle updating the Recent News list. Most of the other content, however, is the responsibility of the division, such as the recent grants and publications, the graduate students and fellows listings, and the language on many of the pages.
