John Zhu has been the assistant director of communications at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy since 2007. He helps spread the word about the contributions to improving health care by the School's researchers, pharmacists, educators, and students. His duties include

• Helping to manage the School Web site and mobile app
• Building the School's online presence on various social media platforms
• Assisting in the School's marketing and media-relations efforts
• Helping to edit the Pharmacy Alumni Association's Carolina Pharmacy magazine
• Editing and designing programs, brochures, ads, and various other material for events and departments at the School
• Providing photography services for faculty, staff, and select events at the School

Before joining the School, Zhu worked as a designer, editor, and writer in several settings, including newspapers, nonprofits, and ad agency. He holds a bachelor's degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
