Roy Hawke, PharmD, PhD
Research Interests
Hawke's current translational and basic research activities are focused on the study of drug metabolism enzymes (cytochrome P450s) and hepatobiliary transporters to determine their roles in liver disease pathobiology and drug-induced hepatotoxicity. Clinical investigations in patients with hepatitis C or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis are focused on the association of disease progression and treatment response with serum biomarkers of inflammation, apoptosis, fibrosis/cirrhosis; and genetic polymorphisms or activity phenotypes for candidate cytochrome P450 and hepatobiliary transporter genes.
