Upon obtaining his Ph.D. in 1973, Dr. Cho joined the Pharmaceutical R&D Division of Pfizer (then Upjohn). During his 17-year tenure at Upjohn, he was engaged in research projects in basic physical chemistry and cell biology as applied to pharmaceutics in general and targeted drug delivery in particular. His primary developmental function was in the field of parenteral product formulation. Since joining the UNC School of Pharmacy in 1990, Dr. Cho has pursued a similar research agenda with a particular emphasis on delivery of macromolecular therapeutic agents such as nucleic acids.

Research Interests

Targeted delivery of nucleic acids and proteins by means of synthetic or endogenous drug carriers
